Volunteer
HOUSE CAPTAINS
The House Captain is the key player in the operation of Rebuilding Day. This position is the project
team leader and is ultimately responsible for the completion of the work scope on time and within
budget.  He or she is the central working figure at each site and is in charge of many tasks:
deciding on the work to be accomplished at the chosen site, planning for and purchasing necessary
materials, determining the number of volunteers needed for the job, directing volunteers on the
workday, and ensuring that the team completes the work it starts
.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATORS
Volunteer Coordinators serve as the liaison between the House Captain, volunteers and the
Rebuilding Together office. They will work with Home Team members and determine how many
people are needed and with what skill set to complete the work scope. They perform many duties
such as: ordering t-shirts and food for Rebuilding Day, checking volunteers in on the workday,
keeping the morale up on-site, keeping things organized, and most importantly ensuring that the
work gets done in a manner benefiting everyone.

LOGISTICS COORDINATORS
Logistic Coordinators serve as the House Captain’s “right hand.”  The LC should be familiar with
the task in the work scope, the materials required, and who is assigned to each task.  The LC’s
responsibility focuses on the provision of materials, organizing the acquisition of materials, having
materials broken down on Rebuilding Day according to task and accessible to the different
volunteer groups. The LC is also responsible for tracking the budget: monitoring expenses,
submitting  receipts, and coordinating in-kind donations.
