Skilled Trades

We are always in need of skilled tradespeople who are willing to donate their labor on National Rebuilding Day or year-round. Pledges of service calls (plumbing, carpentry, masonry, appliance repair, tree pruning/removal and more) can assist homeowners in need throughout Bergen County.

Evaluations Team Members

Evaluators visit the homes or non-profit facilities whose owners/managers have applied for assistance from Rebuilding Together and report on the repairs or renovations that should be made for safety, warmth, energy efficiency and accessibility.  Requires attendance at some evening training and other meetings, but otherwise able to volunteer on your own schedule (daylight hours preferred); knowledge of home repairs, construction, etc. helpful.  Evaluations take place over the summer and through October.

Father's Day 5K Race/2K Walk

Help with registration, food and water distribution, course monitoring, and clean-up. Race begins at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2012.

Board Members

Our board of directors meets monthly to oversee the organization and steer it toward a vision for the future. We are looking for new members who have skills in public relations and marketing, grant writing, volunteer management, or fundraising and who have connections to the diverse Bergen County communities that we serve. If you would like to share your skills, contact us to discuss board commitments.

Home Team Leaders

If you have construction or home-repair skills, you could be a House Captain or Logistics Coordinator. Like working with people? Be a Volunteer Coordinator for one of our projects, or assist as a Homeowner Ambassador.

  • House Captain: Manage a home rehabilitation project (in Bergen County), working with skilled and general volunteers. Construction experience or home-repair experience helpful. Leadership, organization, and the ability to manage time and budget are required skills.
  • Logistics Coordinator: Help order then organize materials and supplies for a home rehab project; have supplies sorted by task and available for the volunteers at the worksite. Helpful to be handy and organized; some experience with tools.
  • Volunteer Coordinator: Organize volunteers for a home rehab project. Recruit (if necessary), track volunteer hours, distribute food and t-shirts, handle paperwork. Good organizational and written/verbal communications skills important.
  • Homeowner Ambassador: Be available to the homeowner whose house is being repaired. Represent the homeowner's interests, while helping the homeowner understand the needs of the project team. Must have "people skills" and an ability to work with all ages.
